Wyoming to Implement Marketplace Facilitator Obligations

February 26, 2019 Oliver Mavor-Parker

Effective July 1, 2019, Wyoming will require marketplace facilitators to collect sales tax on behalf of their marketplace sellers on sales to customers in Wyoming. Marketplace facilitators will be required to collect sales tax regardless of whether a marketplace seller has a sales tax permit. Further, marketplace facilitators will still be required to collect sales tax even if the marketplace seller would not be obligated to collect tax if the sale had not been facilitated through a marketplace. This new requirement will follow on the footsteps of new tax collection obligations for out-of-state retailers that took effect on February 1, 2019.
