Colorado Publishes Updated Civil Tax Penalties and Interest Guidelines

The Colorado Department of Revenue recently published an updated version of FYI General 11: Colorado Civil Tax Penalties and Interest. This publication is a part of the FYI series that Colorado publishes, and provides information on civil tax penalties and interest rates for tax underpayments.

There is only one update in the most recent version of this publication, which is as follows:

  • Annual interest rates for underpayments in 2019 have been published: 8% at the regular rate, and 5% for the discounted rate.

Paul Ogawa is a Junior Regulatory Counsel at Sovos Compliance. As part of the Regulatory Analysis team, his main areas of focus are state and federal tax withholding, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and Canadian tax information reporting.
